Got Fruit?

Got Fruit?

Do you ever wonder when you are in the presence of some one that you deem holy, how you can really tell if they are sincere or not? I mean we know that only God can see a person’s true heart, true intentions.

It always seems as if the people we least expect turn out to be fakes ( I’m sure I don’t need to sight examples.lol). Now undoubtedly we are going to continue to sin for the rest of our days is some fashion. So how do we truly tell who is for real and who isn’t?

Well, since the Bible is our guide to all things it must be in there.

Galatians 5:19-24 Paul is speaking to the people and telling them how they will know the works of the flesh and then the works of the Spirit. So they would be able to differentiate on what to strive for, also what to steer away from.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

What we see here is what some one who has given their life over to Christ will display as character. They will deny themselves these flesh like pleasures. Displaying self control.

The ways of the flesh which means before we have given our lives to him, will be the ways of the flesh. Giving in to only what makes our here and now feel good. But, don’t let it fool you, those temporary highs they are fleeting and you are still left longing for more, the next thing, a car, a job, another child, a fancy car, status. It NEVER lasts.

Take stalk in these scriptures, and do a check and balance of yourself and those who you surround yourself with by God’s measure.

Can you define who you are according to these tell tale signs?

I pray that you continue to pray and ask the Lord to take away your desires of flesh and strive for FRUITS of THE SPIRIT.
